Moleskin = world's greatest invention?

Skirt: Ricki's
Blouse: Old Navy
Belt: Forever 21
Necklace: The Bay
Shoes: Cole Haan - These were the same shoes that killed my feet last week. One of my school's administrative assistants saw me hobbling around with various thing sticking out of my shoes in an effort to stop the rubbing and blistering (bandaids and paper towel - it was BAD). She suggested that I get moleskin. Why have I not heard of this product?! It is amazing. I found it last night at the drug store and slapped that bad boy stuff all over my feet this morning. My feet lasted the whole day with no blisters!

Do your eyes ever talk to your brain?

Pants: Cassis. I snapped these up during their end of season summer sale. Regular $90, marked down to $10. Sweeeeeet! These are my version of the skinny pant and are about as skinny as my legs can go.
Top: Reitman's
Sweater: Martin and Osa. This is my favorite sweater. I luuuurves it and wear it all the time.
Shoes: Karen Scott
Bracelets: Ricki's

Last night we went out to dinner with some friends and then to see a comedian, Louis CK. It's not often that someone "famous" comes out our way. There are rarely any good shows east of Montreal. Louis was super funny. RDog said his gut hurt from laughing so much. I got a kick out of watching the expressions on the older ushers. If you are not familiar with Louis CK, he is very offensive, crude, and swears a lot. The ushers were not laughing.

By the way, this post's title was my favorite line of the night. I can't wait to use it on RDog.

Now, the 7 Things You Probably Don't Know About Me:

1. I have an addictive personality. When I get into something, I really am into it. It could be figure skating, wedding planning, weight loss, Neopets, other games or, like right now, it could be clothes. At least it is clothing and not drugs.

2. I met my husband at a bar. We made out before I knew his name. Whooopsie-doodle

3. I love my cats more than some of my family members.

4. I am a really fast reader.

5.
RDog is my only real life friend who knows that I blog.

6. I was the first person in my family to graduate from university.

7. I am a REALLY shy person. I don't have a lot of friends because I am too shy.

As for nominating other blogs, I need to think about it. I have 126 blogs on my blog lis. There are too many choices; they are all great!

Lesson learned

Sweater: Martin and Osa
Skirt: Cassis
Bracelets: Ricki's
Shoes: Karen Scott

Today's outfit is a good example of why I need to try on outfits before I get dressed in the morning. In the morning I usually am rushed. I always sleep in or become distracted reading blogs while eating my breakfast. If the outfit I have planned out doesn't work, I don't have time to fix it. Usually I spent part of my Sunday afternoon playing with my closet and deciding what to wear in the upcoming week. Last weekend, I didn't have the time to do so. I also didn't have any time or energy at the end of my long days on Monday or Tuesday. Today's outfit suffered as a result. In my head, this worked. But in real life, the sweater is too casual for the skirt. Lesson learned; I must test my outfits prior to my early morning dressing rush.

Meet the teacher

Dress: Sateen Shift Dress from Martin and Osa
Shoes: Naturalizer. They have cutest little bows.
Pearls: Anniversary present from RDog

Tonight was our meet the teacher night so I wanted to be extra spiffy. This is not like a parent teacher interview but instead is the teacher explaining to a group of parents their plans for their child's class. I hate public speaking. I was a little bit nervous but it was definitely easier than past years. Some people can't believe I'm shy because I'm in front of 30 kids all day but kids are different than grown-ups. Other than talking too fast, I think I did ok. This teaching thing gets easier every year.

Lemon Lime Casual

I have no outfit of the day picture today. I came home late last night from my weekend away and was rushed this morning so I just threw on this dress. Instead, you get to see me dressed down. Here is what I wore Saturday for my drive home and for hanging out with my mom and dad.

Sweater: Martin and Osa. I love this so I bought another in black
Tank: J Crew
Pants: Sears (one of the few places where I can get pants to fit my booty and thighs of thunder)
Shoes: Aerosoles
Bracelet: The Bay

Things are crazy busy around here. It's totally destroyed my blog reading time but I hope to get caught up in a few days.

RDog is a stinkerdoodle

Blouse: Banana Republic
Skirt: J Crew
Shoes: Karen Scott
Necklaces: Forever 21 and Expressions from The Bay
Bracelet: The Bay

I'm pleased to say that no fights were witnessed in this outfit today.

I'm off to the woods of Nova Scotia for the weekend. My cousin, his girlfriend and their brand new baby girl are home from Alberta. I can't wait to meet my new little cousin. RDog is a stinkerdoodle. He has to stay home to work. Boooo!

Have a great weekend blogging world.

Headless, footless and angry

Dress: Martin and Osa
Cardigan: Victoria's Secret
Belt: Forever 21
Shoes: Cole Haan Not shown because I couldn't stand to have them on my feet and didn't want a picture of my dirty, blistery feet on the internet. It was my first time wearing my first Cole Haan purchase. They were blister city. I'm a germaphobic and my feet hurt so much, I was walking barefoot through my school's hallways (no students were around to see this).
Sweater clip: vintage. I stole this idea from last night's Glee. Jayma Mays' character wore a sweater clip, not on her sweater but on her collar. I loved it and had to try it today.

During this picture I must have been still holding on to some of today's anger as I am clenching my fists. On Thursdays I have outside lunch duty and the kids were just nuts. I witnessed two fights. When the second one broke out right behind me, I was so angry. I was told I just scattered the crowd of kids around me as I marched to the fight. I barked, "Come with me." And they listened. And didn't argue. Hmmmm, maybe I should get that angry more often.

P.S. Should it be footless or feetless? Where are the grammar experts? I just pretend to be an English teacher (not my major - I just ended up teaching it).

P.S.S. I think it is footless. *runs to change title*

Hot mess

Blouse: J Crew
Skirt: J Crew
Bracelet: J Crew
Shoes: Naturalizer

Despite the fact that I was all "crewed" up today, I felt like a hot mess. The blouse kind of flairs out at the hip and made me feel chunky. The skirt turned into a wrinkled monster and kept on creeping up to my waist. I gained a few pounds from recent over-indulgences and it feels like nothing really looks good anymore. I need to get back to the apple cider vinegar and cut out the late night snacks! It didn't help matters that I had a huge club sandwich for supper and then tried on clothes. Ack, my belly looked like there was a baby in it.

I'm off to drink some vinegar water. Thanks for letting me rant; I'll feel better tomorrow.

I can't wait for snow days

Skirt: Liz Claibourne (thrifted)
Cami: J Crew
Cardigan: Martin and Osa
Shoes: Karen Scott
Belt: Joe Fresh

I found the skirt at a second-hand store and even though the tag said it was a size 12, I tried it on. Its a wee big big but still wearable. My big tip for thrifting is try anything interesting on , regardless of size. I take a size 6-8 and try on anything from a 2 to a 12. Sometimes items have shrunk and that's why they have ended up where they are. Sometimes the sizing of the brand runs large or small. In other cases, you may love the item so much that it is worth it to get it altered.

My other tip is to get nicer thrifted items dry cleaned. It takes out the musty smell that sometimes comes with thrifted clothes. In the this skirt's case, even though the cleaning cost more than the skirt, it made a huge difference. The pleats are perfectly pressed and it feels new.

It felt like a twirling day.

After work, I popped into Costco and spied this. I'm not always about the skirts and heels.

Introducing my brand new snow pants. I didn't crop out my mouth so you can see my sexy model pout look.

I'm not a big outdoors person but these will be great for those snow days when I get to stay home and make snowmen while everyone else works. Hopefully, this winter matches last year's 11 snow days!

I heart Fridays!

Dress: Martin and Osa
Shoes: Old Navy

A really simple outfit as I was running late this morning. I usually have about three planned outfits ready to go but none of them seemed right. So I turned to this Martin and Osa dress that I bought in the spring but haven't worn. I realize now, looking at the picture, that my fashion tape was peeking out. I placed it in a hurry to stop gaping and to stop about 50 14 year old boys from having a REALLY good English class. At least it did its job.

This week's shopping haul

I think this is the first time J Crew has had an additional percentage off sale and I haven't bought ONE thing! Yay for my credit card. I'm just tired of the crazy shipping fees. I really wanted a pair another cocktail capri but just couldn't bear to pay $13.50 in shipping. Instead, I turned to Martin and Osa with its free shipping and an extra %30 off. Here is what I ordered.

Cashmere Double-Breasted Shawl Collar Sweater

Yesterday this was $250. Today it was $79 + 30% off. I have no idea why it was marked down so much as it is a fairly new item. Most of the smaller sizes are sold out but medium is still left in navy. That was a no-brainer. 100% cashmere=love

I also got this shirred sleeveless shirt.

It will be great for layering and one can never have too many white shirts.

Then a few pairs of shorts (here and here). It will be nice to have new summer clothes in case we go down south this winter. Finding shorts for $10 is just lovely. Finally, another of the perfect v-neck sweaters because they are just perfect to throw on and go.

No creative title; my brain is too tired

Dress: Martin and Osa
Belt: RW & Co
Shoes: Chaps
Necklace: anniversary gift from RDog

No creepy neighbors witnessed the taking of this photograph.

J Crew on Glee

I'm watching the season premiere of Glee and love it! I'm noticing a lot of J Crew wearing from Jayma Mays character. With every new outfit she wears, I shout to RDog, "that's J Crew."

Any other Glee fans out there?

Feeling the fall colors

Cardigan: J Crew
Tank: Costco
Skirt: Old Navy
Belt: Nygard
Shoes: Banana Republic
Necklaces: Mexx and Suzy Shier

This may be my last outdoor picture. My creepy next door neighbor stood in his window and watched me while I took this picture. I feel like I can't do anything without him knowing. He is always watching. Yuck. We have started talking about buying or building a house a little bit further out of town with lot of trees to hide weird neighbors.

This working thing sure cuts into my blog reading time!

Dress: unmarked and thrifted
Shoes: Nygard (they gave me blisters)
Belt: Forever 21
Watch: Kenneth Jay Lane
Earrings (not shown): Taupe pearls from The Bay

Today was my first day back with students. It was the grade 9 orientation day and I teach all grade 9 this year so I was busy. I'm so tired but I can't relax yet; I still have some prep work to do tonight. This working thing sure cuts into my blog reading time!

Don't ever stop dancing!

Dress: Martin and Osa. I have it in red too. I loved it so much that when it went on super sale, I snatched it up in black.
Belt: RW & Co
Bracelet: Banana Republic
Earrings: Joe Fresh. I can't get a good picture of these but they are honking big pearl earrings, a la Betty Draper style.
Purse: Coach

Today's somber outfit was for the memorial service we went to for RDog's great uncle who passed away in January. He was a very kind man who lived a long, full life. A few people were recalling him dancing at our wedding. A life-long dancer, he didn't let the fact that he had to use a walker stop him from getting his groove on. It was a sweet moment.

Where: out with RDog for half price martinis downtown. Yummy!

It's the most stressful time of the year!

Skirt: J Crew
Blouse: Tommy Hilfiger
Shoes: Naturalizer
Belt: H&M
Necklace: A J Crew wannabe from Etsy

I'm not feeling this ensemble. The belt kept on slipping up and my blouse kept coming untucked. It just added to my general crappy day. I haven't missed that feeling of being absolutely overwhelmed by everything that is expected of me. If I didn't have two months off in the summer, I would surely lose my mind.

My Clarisonic is here!

After reading Shasta's raves on the Clarisonic, I decided that I HAD to have one. I put it on my birthday list but RDog had a hard time finding one. Apparently Clarisonics are an item that Sephora is not allowed to sell to Canadians. So I hit EBay and tonight my Clarisonic arrived!

I can't wait to try it out. The thing has to charge for 24 hours! Ack.

Right now, I basically just slap any ole cleanser on my face. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good cleanser to go with my new toy? I have an oily forehead and still deal with pimples. Yuck! Oh, and any cleanser that I try has to be fairly easy to find in Canada-land. I think I've had enough of the witch hunts for facial products.

Tuesday Twirl

Skirt: Martin and Osa
Shirt: Mexx
Shoes: Keds
Bracelet: Suzy Shier

In honour of Gingersnap's fabulous twirls, I decided to give twirling a whirl.

It was fun.
