You know you live in the country when moths the size of your hand attach themselves to your house. RDog put his googling skills to use and declared that it is a luna moth. I'm just glad that it is a peaceful creature that will do me no harm. I am not ashamed to admit that when I first spied the moth, I ran away shrieking. Living in the country may take some getting used to . . .

Today was my first day back at school and my first day back blogging after a mini-break. With the big move and all that it entailed, I wasn't too fashionable for most of August. I'll try to get back on the fashionista wagon.
Today I wore:
Blouse: RW & co.
Skirt: Martin and Osa
Shoes: Old Navy
The background behind me is one of the garage doors at our new house!
I love my new garage door.
I should be able to take a lot more outdoor photos now that I lack nosy neighbors and have an abundance of trees. I'll have to stick to my trees for pictures so I don't get such a ridiculous shadow.
We are now country living folk; I got stuck in the traffic behind a hay wagon on the way home from school today! The first day we were here, our neighbor came over with brownies. I love this place!

I"m, a big fan of the yard sale. Sometimes others' junk can really be treasure. I haven't been doing the yard sale thing this summer because of our impending move. Every time, I thought about stopping at a sale, I'd think, "Do I REALLY want to make more stuff?" However, last weekend my mother convinced me to join her for the day for a 75 kilometer long sale back home in Nova Scotia.
Nothing beats a good country yard sale. And if I can find a country yard sale run by little old ladies, I am in heaven. I sometimes think there is a little old lad hiding inside me because I love tea cups and old dishes. I usually only look at dishes and don't bother with clothing. However, last weekend I struck gold in the clothing and accessories department.
I found these scarves at a little old lady church yard sale (those are seriously the best yard sales ever). They must have came from a traveler who somehow ended up in rural Nova Scotia. I found scarves with labels from Saks, Holts and Yves Saint Laurent. Those are definitely not stores around here. The best part: the price. 10 cents each! I scooped up 6, gave them a loonie and told them to keep the change. After all, it WAS a church sale. :-P
Another sale, another little old lady. I found this belt which Ruby likes to smell, for $2. It was probably one of my most expensive purchases of the day.
Of course I found lots of antique dishes and books, which are great things to buy at a yard sale. We packed those treasures into a box to leave at my parents house until I move. That way there are a few less things for us to move into the big house.
My mother also scored with a vase from her crystal set that she found for 50 cents! It was in perfect condition.
Are there any other fans of the yard sale? What was the best treasure you ever found?

Can you guess what colors will be going in the new house?
I went to Benjamin Moore to pick up some paint swatches of paint colors I've noticed in magazines and blogs to present to RDog for "approval" (I think we both know that I'm going to use the colors I want either way). I didn't realize until I had my little collection of chips, that I am definitely leaning in one color direction.
So the green house is going to become a blue house. It literally is a green house. Green siding, green counter tops, green walls, green trim, green doors. Oh wait, there's a bubble gum pink room and a black room. They were the kids rooms and a striking example of why children should not be able to pick out paint colors. Don't worry; we are not going to go that crazy with the blue.
Are there any paint colors in the blue/gray family that you have used and like? I'm open to recommendations, especially in Benjamin Moore colors. I'm a big fan of BM. I'm going to put their Aura paint to the test. No primer needed, even on black walls? We shall see . . .

I'm feeling like a bad blogger lately because I just haven't been feeling the blogging thing. We are in the process of moving and a lot of my clothes and accessories are packed making it harder for me to throw together pretty outfits. The new house has also inspired me to start reading home decorating blogs. I may get into the home decor vibe here in a few weeks. Look out for some new house pictures in about two weeks (eek!).
What I wore today:
Dress: Land's End Canvas - I think a lot of bloggers bought this dress when it went on super sale. It's very comfortable but a little bit wrinkle prone.
Flip flops - Simply Vera from Kohl's - These feel nicer that my plastic Old Navy version. I don't feel grungy if I wear them out to Costco. Yup, Costco was my big trip out for today. I spent $175 on cleaning materials. Lots of house cleaning is in my near future.
Belt: Forever 21
Sunglasses: these are RDog's Raybans that I "borrowed" for today.

Dress: Cassis - For any Canadian gals out there, Cassis has started a great sale, an extra 50% off the lowest price. I was in the store on Friday and there were lots of smaller sizes which usually go quickly. Great deals to be found!
Shoes: The Bay
Something about the combination of the shades, lipstick and the hair curls made me feel all vampy. Hence, this pose.
