Today I was talking about what the word "prominent" means with my grade 11 English class. I asked them to think of a sentence using prominent and the example given was about my shirt. Red IS very prominent against a background of black.

To those who are wondering if "prominent" is a normal grade 11 vocabulary word, it's not. My class is a 3 level or general English class made up off many former drop outs. The goal is to see these students walk across a stage someday and graduate. For most of them it will be graduating with an adult high school diploma which is a program for students beyond the normal high school age who cannot meet regular high school requirements.

I was happy with their answer.

  1. I have the same top - I really like how you put the belt around the skirt!

  2. Love that you're using the sash of the top as the belt! Looks great!

  3. I have the skirt in that print. Wonderful news about the students! Hope they continue to improve.
