A bad April Fool's Joke

Another exciting day in the KDot/RDog household; we can walk on our pool deck! Maybe someday the snow will be gone and we will be able to swim again! It won't be any time soon; the forecast is calling for 20-30 cm of snow for tomorrow. I hope it is just a bad April Fool's joke.

Hugs and Traffic Lights

March 30, 2011

March 30, 2011

Yes, I hugged my gate. I haven't been able to walk up to it since last December due to unbelievable amounts of snow and a husband who refused to shovel anything but the bare minimum required for us to get in and out of the house.

I did have nude tights on but I threw them off upon arriving home in a fit of rage, or passion, or itchiness . . . they were bugging me. Ok, maybe I was still in my car driving home when I took them off. The man in the next lane to me got an eyeful. But I did practice safety first; I made sure I was stopped at a traffic light.

Challenge

March 28, 2011

March 28, 2011

This week I am challenging myself not to wear my standard Jackie cardigan. I wear my Jackies (I have 13!) a lot, so much so that even some of my most unobservant students have noticed. When I put this outfit on, it seemed so plain so I added the scarf. It might be a bit too much purple on purple, but oh well.

Sweater: RW & Co.
Skirt: J Crew
Scarf: Found for 10 cents at a yard sale
Scarf ring: Found for $1 at an antique store
Shoes: Cole Haan

Next week maybe I'll challenge myself to take down my Christmas decorations.

Thumbs Up J Crew

I have needed a new coat for some time now. I also love J Crew. So when the Lady Day Coat went on sale for $99.99, I was tempted to buy it. But the fact that I have never tried on J Crew's outerwear and the coat is final sale, made me hesitate for weeks. I called J Crew's customer service a couple of weeks ago and got the coat's measurements and asked that the final sale be lifted this one time. My request was denied so I didn't buy the coat.

Finally, after agonizing over this darn coat for weeks, this morning RDog told me to just buy the thing. I could just sell it on Kijii (Canada's version of Craigslist) if it didn't fit. So I bite the bullet and ordered this . . .

After submitting my purchase, a survey box popped up. I filled out the survey and in the comment box left pretty much the same story I've told you tonight. I just checked my email and found this note waiting for me.

Hello,

Thanks so much for your feedback provided via our BizRate survey. Your
comments help us shape a continually improving customer experience.

I understand your concern about sizing and have placed notes on your
order allowing the return of the Final Sale coat if it does
not fit. I also wanted you to let you know we will be opening a retail
store in Toronto at the Yorkdale Shopping Centre in early fall of this
year.

If there is anything else I can further assist you with, please feel
free to contact me directly. I have provided my contact information
below for your convenience.

Yorkdale Shopping Centre is a good two days drive away but other than that, yeah, J Crew! I'm now excited for my jacket which should arrive just in time for warmer temperatures.

Yes, there are more of those white dots in my picture. Dang snow! About five minutes after I took this picture, the sun disappeared and it started hailing. I have serious blogger envy for those who live in the south.

Tights and Cardigans

March 22, 2011

Sweater: J Crew Factory
Skirt: J Crew
Necklace: found years ago in a store in Montreal
Tights: Hue
Shoes: Naturalizer

I bought these tights over year ago but they were still sitting unopened in my tights box. With the tights season hopefully drawing to an end, I decided to give them a try.

The sweater is another great J Crew find. It's the factory merino leopard cardigan. The material is very soft unlike the Factory bling-button cardigan which was so itchy (and sheer and just plain yucky)! It fits a little larger than the J Crew Jackie cardigan but in this case it works. I can't button up a Jackie cardigan without significant gaping. It's nice to be able to button this cardi to switch things up.

Outfit Post #549

I originally typed for my post title, "Grass is Revealed!". But that didn't sound too appropriate. I thought it might get some unsavory viewers from Google searches. "Snow Holes" was my next choice but it didn't sound right either. Finally I just went with "Outfit Post #549". I have no idea if this is actually my 549th outfit post. I just choose a random number because spending five minutes thinking about a blog post title is not right when there is a supper to make. And I'm hungry. Fajitas tonight . . . nom nom.

In a Related Story . . .

March 18, 2011

Cardigan: J Crew
Blouse:Banana Republic
Skirt: Ricki's

I'm tired of black tights and it was fairly warm today so I thought I'd give these nude tights a try. I'm not really digging them as they felt quiet nurse-like. It was weird to quickly glance down at my feet, expecting black but instead finding beige feet. But at least I'm not the only one to feel this way. Another teacher at school wore nude tights and we had a conversation about they're kind of icky but very necessary in this almost-spring-weather.

In a related story, once I pulled on the tights this morning, I realized that they showed off my extremely hairy legs. So I had to do an emergency dry shave. Now my legs are paying the consequences; they are very itchy. Yuck!

In another related story, here's another collage (they're fun to make) of how I've worn my blouse (not nude tights) before.

Lesson Learned

Today's lesson of the day.

Before leaving the house in the morning, make sure all of your blouse's buttons are buttoned. Because if you forget to do up some buttons and don't notice until 11:40 am, you will blush furiously in front of 30 seventeen year olds.

This leaves me wondering - why didn't my teacher's assistant or another staff member notice and TELL me that HALF of my CHEST was exposed for the ENTIRE morning.

Seriously, learn from my experience.

I need some wine.

Spring is in the Air

DSC_0162

DSC_0179

I'm back!

March Break was last week and I didn't have any notable outfits to post. I spent most of my week in my "painting clothes" or sweat pants.

I was very excited to take my pictures outside today. First of all, the temperature was ABOVE freezing which is very exciting. Secondly, the sun was bright and shinning which helps with my winter blues. And third, I can see the ground. The little bit of concrete I'm standing on appeared last week for the first time since December. Spring is in the air!

Cardigan: J Crew
Tank: Martin and Osa
Skirt: J Crew Factory - This is one of my favorite factory buys. It's a great winter skirt. My only complaint is that when a shirt is not tucked into it, there is a slight area at the top where the outside itchy material hits my skin. It is very itchy. This is a skirt that is always going to need something tucked into it.
