New Year's Eve

Top: Forever 21 - It's more clingy than I usually wear but it has sequins. New Year's Eve needs some sequins. Hopefully it doesn't make me look too roly-poly. Note to self, sit and stand nice and straight tonight.
Jeans: Reitman's. I wearing the crap out of these.
Shoes: Naturalizer
Earrings: Old
Top-hat headband (not shown): Forever 21. I 'll try to get RDog to take a picture of it. It's crazy and I love it.

I hope everyone has a great New Year's Eve. See you next year!

Vacation Wear

Blouse: Forever 21
Belt: Gap
Jeans: Reitman's
Shoes: Naturalizer

I love this over-sized shirt. It is so comfortable and perfect for vacation home time. The last time I wore it I was so comfortable, I stayed dressed until 10 pm. I know, crazy me eh. Usually I am in my Juicy pants and a tee by 6. I'm living wild today!

BTW, check RDog's new camera flash. It makes my pictures look purty! Thanks RDog for asking for a Christmas present that really is for me. You're the bestest!

Looking back at 2009 - Fall Edition

Here are some of my favorite outfits from the fall of 2009.

September 5

I felt very ladylike in this one and love the pop of color thst my pink purse brings to the outfit.

September 15

I love the ruffled collar of this J Crew cami.

October 6

I love this skirt but haven't worn since that day. I failed to tell this story in my original post. On way my home on October 6, I got in my car and heard a terrible noise; it was the sound of my skirt splitting apart. This has been in my to-sew pile ever since.

October 9

RDog, after seeing this and the rest of my pictures commented, "Jeez, you really do have a uniform. Every outfit has the same cardigan." This came from a man who wears beige khaki pants and a golf shirt every stinking day.

October 31

Here's another cardigan for ya RDog.

My fashion plans for 2010 include buying less and shopping my closet more. Hopefully soon I'll have a new big walk in closet to play in. 2010 has a new house in store for us - we just have to find it. RDog is also working on the camera stuff for me: a better flash and lense so my winter pictures don't look so grainy.

Scenes from a Nova Scotian Christmas

RDog and I spent Christmas with my parents in Nova Scotia. Here are a few pictures from our holiday.

The home grown Christmas tree. My parents live in the country so my dad always keep an eye out for future Christmas trees around them. He shapes them for a few years ahead of time to get the perfect look. This one actually came from right behind the spot where RDog and I were married. It's an extra special tree.

RDog with his fancy photo-taking skillz.

The house I grew up in that my father built. He's a talented man. Notice the lack of snow; it was a green Christmas. That doesn't happen very often.

I hope everyone had a happy holiday!

Looking back on 2009 - summer edition

Here are my favorite looks from the summer of 2009.

July 7

My anniversary dress. I felt so smoking in this.

August 10

This is my Betty Draper around the house look.

Looking back on 2009 - spring edition

Many bloggers have posted their top outfits of 2009 and since I'm a total copycat, I've decided to do the same. In no particular order, here are three of my top ten outfits of 2009 starting with spring days.

May 20

One of the first time I wore a belt for non-pants-holding-up reasons.

May 25

A vast overuse of a water mark but I felt like a lady in this one.

May 29

I love this polka dot shirt. It's almost too nice to wear.

Jeans: Reitman's - I'm wearing the heck out of them - love them!

Necklace: Martin and Osa

Happy Christmas Eve Eve!

Today I'm wearing:

Cardigan: Martin and Osa
Tee: Old Navy
Jeans: Reitman's
Shoes: The Bay

This outfit has been my holiday uniform so far this year: slim pants/jeans, pretty tee and a cardi. Lots of visiting has been done and lots of sweets have been eaten. I don't know if I will be able to fit into these jeans next week; the eating has been so good!

Well, that didn't last

I vowed a couple of weeks ago to cut back on the online shopping. It's easy to abstain from J Crew. I just think of the sickening duty bill on my last order a couple of months ago ($50 duty on a $120 order!) It's much harder to stop ordering from Martin and Osa. I gave in this morning because the prices on many of their coats dropped and there is an extra 25% off with code 51352789.

I ordered the Leather Motorcycle Jacket in Portbello Brown. RDog has the men's version. We'll be all matchy-pooey.

Puffer Jacket. This will be good for building snowmen on snow days.

Wool Trench Coat. I'm hoping this will become my new everyday winter coat. My current coat is a few years old and is getting a bit pilly. It's time for an upgrade.

Uggg, I have no self-control at all when it comes to sales.

My posts will not be regular this week as I am heading out the door. Everyday for the next week involves travel. It's the yucky part of my Christmas vacation. I like to visit my family, but everyone lives in different towns. Lots of driving is in my forecast.

RDog's Fashion Post

Here is RDog's stylish self last night.

Shirt: Mexx
Pants: RW & Co
Tie: RW & Co
Shoes: Spring - cheapo shoes - I'm surprised in you RDog.

RDog went shopping Thursday night for a new outfit for his party. I'm trying to get him to explore new clothing options and this is what he ended up with. It's different for him because the tie is skinnier than usual AND he tied it in a different way. He tells me it's suppose to look a little bit messy. He also decided to forgo his usual brown belt as he thought it didn't go with his "look".

He looked great as he received his employee of the year prize - a bottle of Cristal. Yum, yum! His boss's wife told us that it was baby-making liquid. Perhaps . . .

Work Party Wear

Here is what I wore last night at RDog's staff party.

Dress: Martin and Osa - I got this in the fall on a super summer clearance. I'm glad I had the chance to finally wear it even though it was super cold doing so.
Necklace: Martin and Osa
Belt: RW & Co
Shoes: Naturalizer
Tights: Spanx - These are reversible and super nice. It's crazy to think about how my tights cost more than my dress but they are totally worth it.

What I Wore - Last Day of School Edition

Here is what I wore on my last day of work for over two weeks. Woot!

Sweater: Martin and Osa
Tank: J Crew
Pants: Gap
Shoes: Naturalizer
Necklace: Forever 21

Jeans on a Thursday

My school district for some reason declared today jean day. Usually it is a Friday; weird. I thought at first they might give us half a day off on Friday but no luck. Oh well, I got to wear my new jeans on a Thursday. They are snugger than the clothes I usually wear to school so I wanted to cover my bum with a nice long sweater. This ensemble was then born.

Jeans: Reitman's
Sweater: The Bay
Shoes: The Bay
Necklace: Martin and Osa

Martin and Osa 25% Sale

I received an email from Martin and Osa this morning announcing their current sale: 25% off and free shipping (no minimum on the shipping).

There are some great deals to be found. Here are my top picks.

I've become a big fan of the retro feel of RayBan sunglasses. These are often not included in M&O's sales. I just bought a pair last week. If I needed another pair, I would be pick these nerdy-chic shades.

I've been slowly testing out different tights and I think a flowered pattern is my next battle to conquer.

It's cold and scarves are warm. Nuff said.

I think these gloves would make a great gift. They come in many different colors if purple doesn't do it for you. They're cashmere (my fav) and under $20.

This top would be so pretty layered under a cardi.

The sale lasts until Tuesday. I'm going to try hard to withstand the urge to order. I've been going a bit overboard with my M&O shopping lately. So overboard that the ladies who work the counter at my local post office have stopped asking for ID. They recognize my face now. Whoops.

What I Wore Last night

Last night we went to my staff Christmas party.
I wore:

Dress: The Bay
Boots: Naturalizer
Tights: Joe Fresh

After I took this picture, I added a long sleeved black shirt underneath the dress for warmth.

I had a fun night. Lots of beverages were consumed but hopefully I wasn't too silly. That's always my concern at this parties. It was great to socialize with my co-workers. I often have a chance to leave my classroom and my work time socializing is usually just a nod in the hallways.

Baby, it's cold outside . . .

Cardigan: JCrew
Blouse: Unknown. I cut of the tag so I could wear it backwards. I like it better this way. I found it on Revolve a year ago.
Skirt: Unknown (thrifted with no tag - it may be handmade)
Boots: Naturalizer

Happy Friday blogging world!

Closet Scrambling

Sadly, there was no snow day today. The predicted 25 cm of snow turned out to be a measly 5. This outfit is the result of some closet scrambling. I didn't pick anything out last night because I thought I'd be spending the day in my jammies. The cardigan and necklace are new arrivals and I wanted to wear them, so I did. Not much thought was put into the rest of my outfit. It was all about the new stuff.

Cardigan: Martin and Osa
Tank: Martin and Osa
Necklace: Martin and Osa (hmm, I'm seeing a trend here)
Pants: The Bay
Shoes: Naturalizer

The Snow Day Dance

Sweater: Banana Republic - I bought this in the spring but haven't really worn it. It's a bit bulky. I gave it a try today but don't think it's ever going to be an standby. Poor sweater, it's not your fault. Blame it on my booty.
Tank: J Crew with a few modifications; two bobby pins to pull up the straps and make the tank less boobylicious.
Necklace: A J Crew wannabe from EBay
Pants: The Bay - They have sparklies in them. Ooooh, pretty.
Shoes: Naturalizer

I'm a bit wound tonight. A storm is approaching and it's looking like tomorrow may be a snow day. *does the snow day dance*

Tuesday, December 8, 2009

Oh the weather outside is frightful, but my sweater is so delightful.

Today was all about staying warm for my outside lunch duty. Usually I can withstand Tuesday's 15 minutes of outside duty and don't have to change my dressing too much. However, this week winter has gone to a whole other level. It may take me awhile to wrap my dressing around this idea of extreme cold.

Sweater: Martin and Osa - cashmere and cozy
Pants: Gap - I hate wearing pants so my options are few. You may be seeing a lot of these pants over the next three months.
Shoes - The newbies from Naturalizer
Necklace: EBay

Winter is here

Another crappy night, highly photo shopped shot. I only get to see the sunlight through my classroom window.

Sweater: Martin and Osa - I have this in three colors and have a 4th on its way. I like it a lot.
Tee: Martin and Osa
Skirt: Ann Taylor (thrifted)
Boot: Naturalizer - My new heels are great!

I think my skirt days are winding down for a few months. My bottom was COLD this morning.

Silly me forgot to put on my car's snow tires because it has been +10 degrees (Celsius, that is) and almost spring-like lately. Good thing I know how to drive in the snow because I was slipping all over the roads. My car has appointment tomorrow and then I will be all set to plow through the snow.

This winter thing sure does suck. On the bright side, there's a possible snow day coming on Thursday. *crosses fingers* Snow days are totally the best part of being a teacher. 9 school days left until Christmas vacation!!!!

Snowball time

I've been enjoying trying out and eating the recipes DaniBP has been posting so I though I'd share one of my Christmas favorites - Snowballs.

Ingredients
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup melted butter
1 1/4 cup evaporated milk
1 cup unsweetened fine coconut
3 cups rolled oats
7 tbsp. cocoa

In a saucepan combine and boil together over medium heat for five minutes: sugar, butter and milk. Once the mixture begins to boil, do not stir. While mixture is boiling, mix together rolled oats, coconut and cocoa.

Add the boiled mixture to dry ingredients and mix until well combined. Chill until mixture is able to be shaped into balls. When chilled, roll balls into coconut.

Makes about 4 dozen.
Freezes well.

Enjoy!

Weekend wear and some new loot

Sweater: Martin and Osa

Tank: J Crew

Jeans: Reitman's - New! I popped into Reitman's last night to look for pajamas for my mom. She has a hard time buying anything for herself so Dad and I always get her pjs at Christmas time so she is not wearing rags to bed! Once entering Reitman's, I was excited to see an extra 20% off everything in the store. Reitman's prices are normally very affordable so there were great deals to be had. Mom got her pajamas along with a black cardigan and I got a new pair of jeans. I've desperately needed a pair for awhile but kept on putting it off. I hate shopping for jeans (it's hard to find a pair that my thighs will fit into). But the process was easier because I got a great deal!

Shoes: Naturalizer. These babies are new as well. Last week, the heel on one Naturalizer boots fell off after only a few wears. I took them back to the store and they had them repaired for me at no charge (woot!). When I went back in to pick up my boots, I spied these babies. I had a 20$ off coupon burning a hole in my purse so they came home with me.

Necklace: Forever 21

Clutch: Martin and Osa - I've been overdosing on the M&O ordering lately. This is one of my new purchases. I love this clutch. It's so soft and although the description says the color is gray, it looks like a brown to me.

Guest Starring Ruby

Today I am joined again by Ruby, who is demonstrating her mad scratching skills.

Top: Sears. This is a fooler top. It made my life easier in my rushed overslept daze this morning.
Skirt: Nygard
Tights: Wonderbra. These are the warmest tights ever!
Shoes: Sears
Necklace: J Crew

Trying Tuesday

Blouse: Martin and Osa
Skirt: Cassis - My cost per wear ratio for this bad boy must be pennies by now.
Belt: Old Navy
Tights: Martin and Osa - They look cute but snagged in two spots as I was putting them on :-(
Shoes: The Bay
Necklace: The Bay

It was a long day for me today. A staff meeting at school kept me at work until well after dark which is always yucky. Tonight we're going to see a house. I don't feel ready to make the big move to our "house, house" (what I call our forever home) but RDog is all for it. I have a feeling this one tonight will not be right for us but I will indulge by dear husband. It is WAAAAAAY out in the country. We'll see . . .

What's black and white and red all over? Monday!

I just realized that today's outfit is very similar to last Monday's. I just flipped the red skirt and black sweater. I think that is RDog's influence. He helps me pick Monday's clothes Sunday night and likes simple colors - no patterns allowed!

Sweater: Banana Republic
Cami: J Crew (Silk crescent-collar cami) I realized today that it is itchy. I'm not sure why fabric needs to have metallic added into the mix
Skirt: J Crew
Shoes: Sears
Pearl Bracelet: thrifted

Jeans Day

Today is the last Friday of the month which means jeans day! My pair of school jeans (my only pair not too tight in the bum) are looking faded. It looks like I'll have to make a trip to Reitman's soon to find another. Reitman's is the only store I have found that has jeans that fit a girl with thighs and a booty.

Cardigan: Martin and Osa
Blouse: Old Navy - I bought this last weekend on super clearance. It had an elastic around the bottom that I ripped out. I like it much better like this.
Belt: Gap
Jeans: Reitman's
Shoes: The Bay

Outfit of the day - with a friend

Sweater: Martin and Osa adorned with a black flower whose origin I have forgotten.
Blouse: J Crew - I've had this blouse for months but have never worn it. It is sheer and I could never figure out a way to make it school appropriate. Layering it over a tank never felt right. Finally, I had the idea of layering it under a sweater and letting the best part, the frilly collar, pop out. Success!
Pants: Gap
Boots: Naturalizer
Bracelet: Ricki's
Cat: Ruby - She has been fascinated with light lately. When she hears my camera flash, she comes running for a look.

Great Deals at Martin and Osa

My favorite shopping site, Martin and Osa, has some great deals today. There is free shipping and it doesn't look like there is a minimum. There is also 30% off with the code 996297782. "Big deal," you may think. Martin and Osa regularly has 20, 25, or 30% off. But today, the 30 % can be applied to something that has never been discounted on it's site before: Raybans.

I've been aching for a pair for months but have yet to see them go on sale. Tonight, I snagged these in black for $77! They have since disappeared from the site but there are many other available styles.

I also found great deals in Martin and Osa's accessories section on some fairly recent arrivals.

This bracelet looks so pretty. I think it will be great for festive dressing up. It's only $20.

I'm not sure if this necklace will fit in with my style but I thought I'd give it a try.

This chain looks like a great basic and it's only $10.

And finally, the Gunmetals Bubbles Necklace. It didn't come up with an extra $30 off but already was discounted by 50%. In this case, I think that's good enough for me. I love me some bubbles.

In the sale section, the Cashmere and Silk V-Neck Cardigan has been restocked.

I have this cardi in black and purple and wear them a lot. They are warm and cozy. I ordered another in map green for $27.

Weeee. . . I can't wait for my loot to arrive. Merry Christmas to me!
