We had our first snow of the year last Saturday. It was actually snowing when I took this picture, but you can't see the flakes. The first snow always catches me by surprise every year. It's like I try to delude myself into thinking winter won't come this year. My snow tires are still not on my car and our winter's supply of firewood is still not in the basement (part of it is on the ground behind me under the blue tarp).
Does anyone else delude themselves about the coming of winter?
On a related note, the first snow of the year means that snow days are not far behind (these are the best days for teachers). The forecast tonight is calling for snow and freezing rain. I'm doing my first snow day dance tonight (it's my please, let there be a snow day tomorrow, tradition).
And, yes, it was a wee bit cold doing these pictures.

I only wish we had snow days...it's 80degrees here in Texas!
ReplyDeleteI like your color combination today :)
The second photo is so cute and so true of how we will be feeling like in the next little while! I think I've got a similar blouse from Gap, love it!
ReplyDeletebesos,
ML
Would love for you to say Bonjour at:
20 YORK STREET
You look very indoor-cozy, not quite outdoor-ready :D Over hear on the prairies, it's MINUS 20 plus windchill tonight = MINUS 30. I was in denial right up to this morning. I finally fished out the pigtail for my block heater and bought a cord to plug my car in for tonight. I'm from the south coast of BC, so we hardly ever get below minus 10. This is killing me. BRRRRR...
ReplyDeletethe pop of light blue against the dark colors is awesome!
ReplyDeleteEek, I'm so jealous of your warm weather. The novelty of snow will wear off in a few days I"m sure.
ReplyDeleteThanks 20 York. :-)
Closet Crisis, that's some crazy cold temperatures! We were hovering just below zero today so it really wasn't that cold taking my picture.
Thanks Dotty!
How is minus 30 even possible?? Wouldn't all the plants and animals die? I don't understand...
ReplyDelete-A Texan
LOL Haley. In minus 30 degree weather you just don't go outside, ever. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe don't do snow days EVER here in Calgary! Tonight it's -26 C with a wind chill of -36 C!! Brrrrrr!
ReplyDeleteWe do go outside here in this weather, just not for long. Usually run from the car into the Mall! It's all about the layers!
KDot, is that the black pull on pencil skirt?
It's the Belted Pencil Skirt found here:

All the sizes are gone now though :-(
We're lucky here that we have all kinds of snow days. Two years ago we had 11! And the rumor is that if it hits minus 40, school is canceled as well. It's never been that cold on a school day since I've been a teacher.
