Today's teacher lesson learned: When two 15 year old girls are fighting over a boy, don't get in their way. You will get hit.
Luckily for me, it was just a touch on the wrist. When one girl had the other pinned to the ground and was strangling her, a burly bus driver ran over to help separate them.
Needless to say, I am very happy that there are only five teaching days left in this year.

Our "Princess Robin" is still nesting on our back porch. She's been there for two weeks so hopefully babies will be coming soon. I would love to use our back deck without feeling guilty about disturbing the momma. She yells at us if we go outside!
Today, RDog was able to get a photo of the eggs when Momma away (she was disturbed by visiting cable repair men and took off).
Robin's eggs are the prettiest thing ever. The color is amazing!

Today was all about keeping it simple. I was going to wear my new Land's End belt that arrived yesterday (love red and purple together) but the sizing was too large and it wouldn't stay on my waist but instead settled to my hips. Vanity sizing still makes me happy though; I love the feeling I get when a small is too big for me.

I came home tonight to find this.
First of all, the robin (aka Princess Robin) must have been ticked off to have her mid-day peace disturbed by Mr. Delivery Man. Princess Robin does not like when humans invading her territory. She likes to scream at them if they do. She especially does not like RDog and has started pooping on his BBQ. RDog has a theory that she is enacting revenge for his presence near her nest.
Second of all, the amount of packages looks bad, but it isn't (promise). I've been really digging Land's End and Land's End Canvas lately. What I don't like is how they charge duty to Canada when the item ships from within Canada. I have discovered that duty is only shipped if the order is over $16. Each of those boxes represents one item that was under $16 (shipping was free). It's wasteful, I know, all those boxes for a little belt or scarf. But I refused to pay duty for something that ships from Canada! As for the contents in the boxes, I'll be wearing some of it tomorrow.

Today, for the first time in weeks, the rain stopped and the sun peeked out. All around the neighborhood, the distant drone of lawnmowers could be heard. It's amazing how good a little bit of sunshine makes me feel. I celebrated the sunshine by wearing some sunshiney colors today.

My photographer had the day off so you get the self-taken tripod pics tonight. I felt a lot prettier than the pictures show. RDog, come back. I promise I won't be sarcastic when you take my pictures (this week).

Tonight's conversation as we started taking photos went something like this:
KDot (in a snotty tone): "Are you going to take my pictures or what?"
RDog (grumbling): "Let's make this quick."
KDot (sarcastically): "That's what she said."
The rain is starting to get to me. It's been cold and rainy for 2 weeks and I am starting to get craaaanky. It was hard to find pictures tonight that didn't feature a gigantic scowl.

What I wore last night when we went out with friends for a little Friday treat (wings and martinis for me!)The blogger down time Thursday night gave me some free time. I used it to curl my hair for Friday. This time I tried sponge rollers and slept on them. Success!

This outfit is pretty much a copy cat of yesterday's. I have this habit (problem) of buying clothes in multiple colors. Today I wore a different colored version of yesterday's pants and yesterday's belt and topped it off with yet another patterned J Crew cardigan. It works.
On the robin front, not much changed since yesterday. However, I wanted to share with you the mess the robins made while making their nest. It seems that their stick placing aim is not so good.
This is the mess they left below my porch light where their nest rests. Yes, that is a dead tomato plant in the pot. I haven't cleaned it up for fear of disturbing the birds. Ummm, yah . . . we'll go with that excuse.

Today, the weather took a turn for the cold. I couldn't bring myself to wear tights. I . . . just . . . couldn't . . . do . . . it. So pants it was. The weather also dictated our photo shoot location (that phrase sounds glamorous, don't ya think). It was raining so we moved into our screened in porch which still hasn't entirely been cleaned up for the summer, hence the mess behind me.
Coincidentally, it is right beside our screened in porch that some robins decided to make their nest. They actually built it on our outdoor light. Our cat, Ruby, loves to hang our in the porch but now has special visitation times (whenever the robins are not home). We tried to explain this to her, but she doesn't understand. Ever try to tell a cat she can't do something that she really wants to do? Cats don't really like that.
Here is the nest in its beginning stages.
Lots of work was completed today. The whole nest foundation has been cemented with a good layer of mud. I can't wait to see what happens next; it's like reality robin tv!

This was the first time I've worn this Old Navy belt that I picked up about a year ago for a steal. It's all business in the front with its brown color but a party is going on in the back with the bright pink. I felt the pink was a bit loud so wearing it under an open cardigan is the perfect option. Most of the bright pink is covered up except for a quick peek every now and then. Why didn't I think of that sooner?
