It's Time

I've worn this dress on my blog lots so I decided it would be a great day to show up off my favorite winter coat, the J Crew Lady Day. Temperatures took a dip this week and although I try to hold off as long as I can, it was time to bring out the winter coats.

I love Christmas because it means I can scatter glittery, shiny things around my house without shame.

Itchy

As I look at these photos, all I can think about was how itchy I was at that moment.

I suffered from eczema when I was a child. When I was seven, it went away for good (I thought).

A few months ago, a small patch popped up on the back on my legs. And then last week, there was an explosion . . .eczema was everywhere.

The level of itching is indescribable.

Thankfully, a few hours after taking these pictures  I was able to get the doctor and get stocked up with heavy duty creams and pills. My skin is doing much better now.

With a Touch

This dress is one of my great thrifting finds. As soon as my fingers touched the fabric, I knew I had something good. The right size, in good condition and 100% cotton made it a keeper. I came home and Googled the designer name and was super stoked to see that this dress was originally purchased for 100's of dollars. I paid $4! I love thrifting finds like that.

It's a Battle

See that white tinged grass behind me.

It's frost.

The mornings are cold.

I suggested to RDog that perhaps he needs to start throwing on a coat for our little early morning photo shoots.

He suggested we start taking photos inside.

We'll see who wins this battle.

I don't know if you can tell, but I was in the a high state of pain while taking these pictures.

When I woke up, I stretched oddly and pulled a muscle in my lower neck. Odd muscle pulls used to be common in my life but since I've upped the exercising  I haven't had an incident in the last year.

I thought I could work through it but when my students told I looked rough, I knew it was time to go home.

I was home at lunch and spent the rest of the day in bed drinking coffee and reading the newest Marian Keyes novel. Even with the neck annoyance, it was not too shabby of a day.

Any other Marian Keyes fans out there?

I felt more banging than these pictures show. What was going on with my bra? TMI, sorry but my bra lines are way too apparent. I didn't notice until I looked at these pictures (at the end of my day). Time to go bra shopping!

Has the Christmas bug hit you yet?

It has struck my household. I'm lucky enough to have a spare bedroom in our basement where I can unload my Christmas decorations and then shut the door when the explosion of stuff bothers me.

We've had some warm days lately so I used that to our advantage and decorated our front porch and window boxes.

We pillaged for the pine in the ditches of our country back roads. RDog thought I was crazy but went along with it. He also thought I was crazy when I told him to pick out some pretty wood sticks so I could use them for decorations.

That's How You Do Customer Service

Today, my latest Old navy order arrived with my epic Owl Sweater. In the midst of gleefully trying on all my plastic wrapped goodies, I almost didn't notice that one item was missing. I have never had an item missing from an order. My first thought was, "who is going to believe me?"

I called ON Customer Service and was connected with the sweetest customer service representative ever! She was just so happy to do her job. That's what she told me! My missing sweater is on its way to me; no questions asked.

Although it kind of sucks that it was missing in the first place, Old Navy's friendly service made my annoyance disappear. I can think of a few snarky teenage clothing store workers who could learn a thing or two.

In the end, the Owl sweater wasn't as epic as I hoped it would be, but I did fall in love with this great lace t-shirt.

The middle of November has brought a warm streak to Atlantic Canada so I was able to ditch the tights and wear short sleeves.

This skirt almost bit the dust. It was too small for me earlier this year and it sat in the "to be donated" box in my garage all summer. Fall rolled around and the "to be donated" box was donated but not before I spied this skirt inside and gave it a try again. And it fit! Yeah, it was like finding a new skirt in my garage!

An Emotional Day

Brooch: My aunt's

This picture was taken on the 4th anniversary of my aunt's death. I knew I would be thinking of her all day, so I wanted to wear something special. This brooch was the perfect choice. After her death, my mother found this brooch among my aunt's belongings and kept it for me (because I am girly and like sparkly things). Her life was difficult and she didn't have a lot of material belongings to pass along. I'm just glad I have a little something to remember the good bits of her life.

I was already feeling emotional that morning but then my teacher friend texted me to tell me his expectant wife went into labour a month early! Even though she was early, everything is fine with the new little one. I am very happy for my two dear friends. It still blows my mind that they created another living being!

So this ended up being a very emotional day, much of it with me on the edge of the tears. Although, with the baby news, they were very happy tears. Team Baby; woot, woot!
