Over a year ago, RDog gave me the fantastic present of a Burberry purse, which I blogged about here. However, he often complains that I don't use it enough. I feel uncomfortable taking it to school as a lot of my students come from low socio-economic families. It is also such a hassle to switch purses for a night or weekend. But now school is out so my Burberry is out of the closet. RDog, I'll try my bestest to use it lots this summer.

This One's For You RDog
School's Out!
Yesterday was my last day of work! It was only a half day so I came home in the afternoon and painted my dining room (hence the casual outfit). Exciting stuff eh.

Hats and BBQs
Last night we went to a friend's for a BBQ so I kept it pretty casual.
Skirt: J Crew
T-shirt: J Crew
Shoes: Keds
Sunglasses: Raybans
Hat: another awesome man's hat from H&M
Later in the night, when it was cooler, I threw on a J Crew hoodie that coincidentally is the same color as the pink flowers on my t-shirt.
I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

What I Wore Yesterday
Yesterday was report card day. I'm almost at the finish line folks! It again was a hot one so I tried to keep it light and comfortable.
Top: Forever 21
Skirt: RW&Co. It looks like black in this photo but it is navy.

Dress Up Night
Last night was my school's graduation ceremony (aka, another chance to dress up). I bought this dress many months ago for a steal but haven't had the chance to wear it. My "dress up" red lipstick came out for the night and I tried an updo. I decided to grow my hair out a little bit so it;s a little longer than usual. It was just able to stay up (with the help of 15 bobby pins).

Comfy Cleaning in the Heat
This is what I wore yesterday to school. Today's outfit is pretty similar so I'm not going to post it. The goal was to wear comfy clothes because I was cleaning and packing up my classroom in a VERY hot building.
Dress: Smart set
Tank: Martin and Osa
Belt: Nygard
Shoes: Reitman's
I"m back to being a headless blogger today. I'm not ready for full on face views yet.

Prom, Mudding, and Headless Bloggers
Last night was my school's prom. I love chaperoning prom partly because it's neat to watch the crazy entrances the kids manage. I get to see the lovely dresses the girls wear and I get to dress up too!
Dress: Le Chateau - this was the dress I wore to our wedding rehearsal dinner.
Shoes: Nygard from Sears
Purse (not shown): Danier Leather
Sunglasses (not shown): Blue 60's style Raybans
Big poofy princess dresses were all the rage this year. The dresses were brightly colored and often the guy had a matching flower and tie. They looked so spiffy.
I always like to stand outside and watch the arrivals at the beginning. Some of the best arrivals to the prom were a group of ladies who chartered a city bus which had the bus driver dressed up as a chauffeur. We have a lot of country kids so there were some tractors (clean and shiny ones of course). There was a race car, which dropped off the kids and was promptly pulled over by the police! There were also lots of stretch limos and antique cars. My favorite was a former student who took his truck "mudding" on the way to prom. All the other vehicles were newly cleaned and buffed. His truck was newly "mudded". It really suited his personality!
It was a great night! Watching all the kids boogy down made me a little emotional. These kids (I can't say children and it feels off to call them adults) have an entire future ahead of them and so many things they can accomplish. I only hope that they realize their potential.
P.S. And yes, I'm showing my face. Eeeek! I have realized that my favorite blogs don't feature headless bloggers. I"m going to try to reveal a bit more of my face. I'm going to go slowly; I'm shy.

Different Day, Same Hat
I spent the day with my family down home at the farm. My Grampie's birthday was last week and when I was a child, we would often have family picnics to celebrate his birthday and Father's Day. Grampie passed away in March but we still wanted to get together to celebrate "his day".
Here I am on the farm.

Yesterday's outfit. . . laying down
Yesterday was a hot day so it was an easy breezy day fashion wise. RDog and I went to my parents' house and had a relaxing dinner out on their gazebo. My parents live in the country so it is always a peaceful getaway. RDog captured me relaxing on my Dad's soft lawn and it was the only full outfit shot that we took. So here is my outfit of the day, lying down.
Tank: Old Navy
Skirt: J Crew
Sunglasses: Raybans
Hat: H&M - I have an unusually large head and rarely find hats to fit it. I discovered a solution; men's hats. H&M has a great selection at very good prices. I bought two fedora's a couple of weeks ago and plan to wear them pretty much every day. I need to make up for 28 years of not wearing hats.
Shoes: Sears - This is the last time you will see these shoes on my blog. We decided to go on a post-dinner walk in the woods. This year, there seems to be a lot of slugs out. I decided to go traipsing through an old hay field and soon found several slugs deposited into my shoes. Unfortunately, I did not make that discovery until after they had been squished by my feet. Ewwwwwwww!

Belt Trick
Dress: My other Boden find via EBay. It's a tad too big but at least now I know what UK Boden size I take.
Necklace: Joe Fresh
Belt: Gap
Shoes: Sears - These were a necessity. It is exam week this week and heels are too noisy. With these shoes, students who are trying to concentrate won't be bothered by my little pitter-patter down the hallways.
I have a little belt trick to share. This is a great little fabric, reversible belt from The Gap. However, when I wear it without a pant's belt loops, the end pops straight out and drives me crazy. My solution; double sided tape.
Hopefully you can see the sheen of the tape in the light. It worked like a charm.

In All Her Cuteness
Shirt: Ricki's
Skirt: J Crew
Shoes: Sears
Bracelet: Joe Fresh
I flicked my tripod down a bit more than usual to get more of a floor shot and capture Ruby in all her cuteness. It's hot today so I think the floors must be a cool spot to lay.

Giving Boden a Try
Dress: Boden via EBay
Belt: H&M
Shoes: The Bay
Dinagideon over at My Superfluities raves so much about Boden that I had to give it a try. I managed to score two new Boden dresses on EBay for under $20 each and thought it would be a perfect way to test drive this brand. My verdict; I love it! The fabric is beautiful and I love that their dresses and skirts come in tall sizes. Being 5'10" makes it a challenge to find dresses that are long enough, especially for work wear. I will definitely be giving the actual Boden website a try, although it is a bummer that Canadians have to order off the UK site.
Besides Dina, are there any other Boden fans out there?

Wear it until it falls apart
Sweater shell: J Crew
Necklace: Joe Fresh
Flats: Gap
Skirt: Thrifted - I bought this skirt several years ago and love it for it's unique pattern. However, it's not in the best shape. It was a cheap piece to begin with and has been torn and repaired in several spots. Someday I feel as if it may disintegrate right on my body. But I love it so much, I'm going to wear it until it falls apart.
Do you have a piece of clothing that you love but it's on its last leg?

No More Top Gun!
Blouse: Mexx
Necklace: Reitman's
Skirt: J Crew
Shoes: Merona from Mardens
Excuse the wrinkles. It was the end of a long, hot day.
The good news is that my teaching is finished for the year. I just have exams next week and prom, grad and report cards the week after that. The hard stuff is over! Yeah!
The bad news is that a marching band practices in the building across the street from us and they have been playing the theme from Top Gun for about an hour. They practice about twice a week so we are VERY familiar with this song. No more Top Gun!

A Great BIg Grin
Cardigan: J Crew
Blouse: J Crew
Belt: J Crew
Skirt: Caissis
Shoes: Cole Haan
I'm not sure why I was grinning in such a goofy way during this picture. Perhaps it is a grin of a teacher who only has one more day of teaching left (I still have two more weeks of actual work left to go). Yay!

Birthday Wishes
Ok, RDog, this post is for you. I know my birthday is not for another 72 days. I know that because I Googled "birthday countdown" and found this lovely little site that will tell you how many days are left until your birthday. I can't do math, ok. I teach English. Anywho, I am already constructing a birthday list to help you out in preparation of the great upcoming day.
At the top of my birthday list is a blog makeover. I'm getting tired of the purple and white plain Jane look. And I have this super duper artistic, computer dork husband. Surely, he could make this blog better. If only he would . . .
Don't worry. More wishes will follow . . .
Fulfilling Urges
Dress: RW & Co.
Shoes: Cole Haan
Necklace: RDog
I have to get my dressing up urges fulfilled this week as it is the last week of class for the year. I won't have the chance to wear a lot of my dressier work clothes for a few months. I love this dress but it is not very practical for teacher-wear. Bending down to plug in cords and pick up papers from my low shelves was a challenge!

Brought to you by J Crew
Sweater: J Crew
Tank: J Crew
Skirt: J Crew - My recent splurge. I am so in love with this skirt.
Shoes: Expressions from The Bay - I think this is their last wear. They are not leather and have never adapted to my feet. Despite many wearings, they still hurt like new shoes. No good!
Belt: Old Navy

Long Monkey Arms
Dress: Banana Republic via EBay - I think this has to go in my must-alter pile. The sleeves are crazy long even for a girl with long monkey arms.
Shoes: Merona - I think that brand is from Target. I found them at the greatness of Northern Maine that is called Mardens. Total cost per wear is a fraction of a cent by now because they only cost $2. They are even leather, no man-made plastic stuff here.

Rain Drops and Mud Splashes
Dress: Thifted - It's made out of the thick polyester that reminds me of the 70's. Not something I want to wear everyday but good for cold rainy spring days when I have outside duty. The good news is that it's tough polyester so I don't care about the rain drops and mud splashes. The other good news is that I only have one more outdoor duty left in the school year.
Belt: Forever 21
Necklace: Martin and Osa
Shoes: Naturalizer

Holding the Wall Up
Dress: Who's That Girl from Beyond The Rack
Cardigan: J Crew
Necklace: J Crew via EBay - Yes, it is the same as the necklace I wore yesterday. I bought two in different colors. Hey, it was a good deal. :-)
Shoes: Chaps
Belt: RW & Co

Is It Really June?
I had a girly, spring outfit planned for today but awoke this morning to find a cold and bleak day; fashion plans had to be changed on the fly. Here's what I ended up wearing:
Cardigan: J Crew
Sweater shell: J Crew
Necklace: J Crew via EBay
Pants: Gap
Shoes: Naturalizer
I think I may have to turn our propane fireplace on tonight, it's so cold. I don't believe it's really June!
