Happy New Year

Happy New Year Blogging World!

I am not usually one to make resolutions but this year I am making a short term resolution based on a challenge issued to me by my husband. RDog has challenged me not to shop online for two months. Initially I said no; I said it would not work without some motivation. So he gave me some motivation. If I refrain from shopping online until the beginning of March, RDog will take a chunk of his next work bonus and put a nice sum of money on my student loans.

When I think about it, it is rather silly for me to be blowing my income on clothes when I should be paying more off my student loans and saving for our new house. I am still allowed to shop in real life stores as both RDog and I know I could not totally ban the shopping (I would go craaaazy). I really don't do much damage in real stores. My inner cheapness comes out and I don't buy much. It's like I lose all control when shopping online. There are also not a lot of places around here that I like to shop at. I go to The Bay, Naturalizer and thrift stores. I can't do too much damage there.

So no more online shopping for me. You're on RDog!

  1. You can do it KDot!
I could be your twin. I am the same when shopping in real-life: very discerning and almost no damage done. Online? I go mad, so I hear ya. You know I am on the ban until December, and if I can do it so can you. It actually feels good to NOT click on that "submit order" button! And paying down your student-loans? That's a great feeling. Good deal with RDog!

  2. I'm so proud of you! I wanted to take on not shopping in 2010 except for a short list of things (like undies and socks) but I don't know if I can do it.

  3. I feel exactly the same way - my real life shopping doesn't 'count' because it's such a drop in the bucket compared to my online habit.

I'm going to try and half join you - no shopping in January. Of course I have some residual deliveries on the way to tide me over - but no new orders this month, period!! (:

  4. PFP, I too have many orders coming next week that should hold off my urges for a bit. I went a little nutso with the Boxing Day sales.
