Mirror Image
Sweater: Marshall's
Tank: Martin and Osa
Skirt: J Crew
Shoes: Naturalizer
The skirt is a new purchase from J Crew's online factory store. I like the skirt and thought it was wonderful when I discovered it was almost a perfect match to an old M&O tank. However, it is not lined and was bunching and moving around all day (hence the wrinkles). Next time I wear it, will be without the tights.

You had a bad day, The camera don't lie
Sweater: Martin and Osa
Tank: J Crew
Skirt: Thrifted
Necklace: Forever 21
Shoes: Naturalizer
I had fun making my collage last week, so I made another. Here's how I've worn my skirt over the past year.
Apparently, I really like it paired with blue. It's interesting doing this blogging thing and looking back over two years of outfit pictures. I can really notice trends in what I wear.

The Skirt Made me Do it
Sweater: Martin and Osa
Skirt: Gap
Shoes: Naturalizer
Just a normal day . . . a normal blog photo shoot. Everything was fine until I started to twirl the skirt.
That lead me to start dancing.
And then I started to jump around.
Raise the roof!
Excuse the funny face. That photo was a lot of work.

Like a Rotten Banana
Sweater: J Crew
Tank: J Crew
Skirt: Ricki's
Shoes: Naturalizer
It's a yucky flash photo - I got home really late and there was no light left.
One of my students told me today that I looked like a rotten banana. It stemmed from our conversation yesterday about how I really hate bananas. I hate them so much, I wouldn't let another teacher put his peel in my classroom garbage can (too stinky).
The rotten banana comment was especially amusing because it was said by a deaf student. The classroom was silently working and all of a sudden his interpreter said really loudly, "You look like a rotten banana." I couldn't help but laugh; the student is a mischievous fellow. It's a different experience having an interpreter in my classroom (it's only been a week) but I think it will be a good experience, as long as the student stops comparing me to rotten fruit. :-)

Prominent
Sweater: J Crew
Cami: J Crew
Skirt: Ricki's
Shoes: Naturalizer
Today I was talking about what the word "prominent" means with my grade 11 English class. I asked them to think of a sentence using prominent and the example given was about my shirt. Red IS very prominent against a background of black.
To those who are wondering if "prominent" is a normal grade 11 vocabulary word, it's not. My class is a 3 level or general English class made up off many former drop outs. The goal is to see these students walk across a stage someday and graduate. For most of them it will be graduating with an adult high school diploma which is a program for students beyond the normal high school age who cannot meet regular high school requirements.
I was happy with their answer.

Here Comes The Sun
Blouse: J Crew
Necklace: J Crew
Dress: Reitman's
Shoes: Naturalizer
This dress has gotten lots of wear over the past two years and is starting to show it's age. Pills are popping up on it. It's to be expected from a cheap dress but still sad. I looked back through my blog to see how many times and ways I've worn it.
Picasa is so neat. I threw together this collage easy-peasy. Judging from the results, I really like pairing brown with pink or orange. Next time, something crazy - maybe blue? :-)
Happy Monday!

Clean Eating Update
I've been clean eating for about a month now and the numbers on the scale have gone down a wee bit. I feel great too. I feel off the wagon three times; one involving a bowling game, lots of alcohol and McDonald's, the next involving lots of wine and pub food, and the last involving my time of the month and a chocolate cake. Life happens. The next day, I try not to let it bother me and get right back on track with some oatmeal for breakfast.
For those who are not familiar with clean eating, it basically means you do the following:
- eat 5-6 small meals during the day
- make sure every meal has protein and carbs
- stay away from processed food and ingredients that you can't pronounce
I've been doing lots of home cooking and experimenting with recipes. The best part that this time around RDog is on board with me. His cholesterol is a little bit high and he (finally!) has the urge to eat healthier. He's been losing weight like mad with my healthy suppers (bugger!).
On a typical day I eat the following:
Breakfast: Oatmeal. I make a big batch on Sunday and it lasts for many days. I don't like food with a mushy texture so I cook it in the oven with some vanilla soy milk (a new discovery for me - yum!), almonds, dried cranberries, apples, and vanilla. I just reheat a portion quickly in the morning.
Snack: a smoothie - I blend up plain yogurt, a wee bit of ground flax, frozen berries and some soy milk
Lunch: leftovers from supper the night before
Afternoon snack: apple and/or yogurt
Supper: meals with lots of chicken, brown rice and veggies and always a piece of dark chocolate for desert!
Evening snack: fruit, kale chips, 100 calorie bag of popcorn or my favorite fruit salad.
This is one of my favorite snacks and is a recipe from one of Tosca Reno's books.
Take equal amounts of grapes (cut in half), celery and apples and add some walnuts to the mix. I usually make a batch with two cups of each ingredient and about 1/2 cup of nuts.
Top it off with a cup of plain yogurt mixed with a tablespoon of lemon juice.
Mix it all up and you have a yummy, guilt-free snack.
Has anyone else changed their eating habits with the new year? Are you keeping your resolution?

Five Day Work Weeks Are Hard
Sweater: J Crew
Sweater Shell: J Crew
Skirt: Cassis
Shoes: Naturalizer
Necklace J CRew
This outfit is one of my go-to-outfits when I"m stuck in a pinch. I use the same skirt and shell and just switch out a different coloured Jackie cardigan. It's great for those end of the week mornings when I'm tired and very late for work.

I Lost My Pool
Dress: J Crew
Belt: J Crew
Sweater: J Crew
Shoes: Naturalizer
Hmmm, I think I need to clean the blinds - they are suppose to be white. Let's blame that on our house's previous owners shall we.
To give you some idea about the snow I've been complaining about, RDog snapped this picture this morning. This is in our back covered porch that overlooks a deck and our pool. Yes, there is a pool in there somewhere. And that is not a miniature barbecue, it's a pretty hefty one. There's just a lot of snow.

More Snow Grumbling
Sweater: J Crew
Cami: J Crew
Skirt: Ricki's
Shoes: Naturalizer
To continue yesterday's snow grumbling, during my white knuckled drive home tonight, the radio announcer said there has been 215 cm of snow this winter with another 20 being dumped on us as I write! That's almost 8 feet!
