I'm back! It was a busy week last week so my blogging time had to take a cut. Unfortunately, RDog's grandfather passed away a week ago. He was 89 and lived in a nursing home close to us. It will be a big difference in RDog's life I think.

The silver lining was that we got to reconnect with a lot of family. I really like RDog's family and how they make me feel like one of the gang.

The weekend was spent recovering (it was an exhausting week) and now we're back at it again today. And on another good note, only nine teaching days left and less than a month to go until summer vacation!

I hope those who had a long weekend had a great one. It was beautiful and warm here. I was able to get get into the pool for the first swim of the season.

The heater is not yet turned on as swimming season is really another month away. My "swim" consisted of me jumping in the pool, screaming and hopping out. The water was really cold! I just wanted to say I went swimming in May.

I think you may have to be Canadian to get how special that is.

I was singing the song "Wild  one" by Flo rida all day. One of my students overhead and was amazed that I was that into a current song. They always assume us teachers are old fuddy duddys. Hey, I like my beats dawg!

White Cat on an Apartment Roof

Today I was entertained at school by two cats on a roof.

My classroom is in the basement so my windows don't have a very good view. They are very high so all I can see out my window is the top floor of a house turned apartment across the street. I often sit at my desk and watch the cats in window of this apartment.

Today, I glanced over and noticed that the window was open and a cat was crawling out of it on to the roof.

My first thought was, "Holy *&^V, that cat is going to fall off the roof and die."

Then I noticed another cat already out on the roof just relaxing in the sun.

I watched them for a few minutes and thought about going across the street to warn the owners. This place is really sketchy (there have been a few drug raids and I have witnessed people hanging around the door of the next door apartment smoking up).

Before being a hero, I mentioned it to the teacher next door and he said he sees them out there all the time and not to worry. And he reminded me that the apartment building is really sketchy and please don't go over there.

My students also reiterated this story. Apparently, lots of students like to watch the cats when the are bored in class (of course, not in my class, they would never be bored in my class).

So I didn't warn the owners that they are crazy for letting their cats chill on the roof of a three story building but I did keep a close eye on the cats all afternoon.

Then I came home and hugged my cats (who would never be allowed to be roof explorers).

Today's Everybody, Everywear theme is nautical, so I threw on every anchor themed item I own (which is two).

In history class today, while teaching about Hitler in the late 1930s, a student of mine started laughing. It was not a funny topic so I asked him what he was laughing about.

"I just realized you look like a sailor today," he replied while still giggling.

"Yes, it's a nautical themed day. I like boats. Now back to Hilter."

I almost said, "Yes, because it's nautical theme day on Everbody, Everywear."

That could have been bad.

My internet secret identity remains. . . secret.

I Love Nutella

For way too long, this skirt was too snug to wear comfortably. Now it finally has a better fit (the product of eating salad for lunch for a month). I shall resist the urge to reward myself with scoops of Nutella. I really love Nutella.
