My Internal Monologue
Nervously eying two neighbors as they walk out their driveway with their dogs. Which way will they turn . . .
They're coming my way. Eek, pretend to check out the flower garden of mud.
Whew, they're gone; back to posing

March Purchases
Land's End Canvas Sweater: $9.00
Old Navy Maxi Skirt: $13.00
Total: $22.00
March purchases were on the light end for three reasons:
1. I thrifted a lot during March Break and got my clothing fill then. I don't count thrifted clothing in this list because everything is 3 to 4 dollars and I'm too lazy to keep track the receipts.
2. I bought something special for the house and spent a lot of money on it (pictures to come). That ate into my clothing budget.
3. I started going through my closet and listing things on EBay that I haven't worn (many still with tags). So far, I made $500 from this. There's still more items I'd like to list. My goal is to save enough to buy a pre-owned Louis Vuitton purse. Realizing how much money I've wasted on clothes has really made me hesitate when contemplating new purchases.

Hipster
Blazer: Martin and Osa
Tank: Old Navy
Skirt: Talbots
Belt: Land's End Canvas
Shoes: Naturalizer
Indoor pictures for this one because I spent over 12 hours at school and didn't get home until way after dark. Parent teacher interviews (al when well).
I felt really stylin so I made RDog take this pictures (usually I say "forget about it" when I'm tired). But looking at them today, I'm not so sure it was such a hit. Maybe a little too hipster for me.
RDog choose the location. He wanted to show his record player. He really is a hipster!

A Favor For RDog
Any fans of my wonderful husband RDog out there?
If so, you would be doing him a huge favor by checking out this link.
It's his company's latest game featuring a collaboration with Shannon Tweed-Simmons. It's really neat that such a big star is working with his small Maritime company. We're all super excited about it.
And, to top it all off, the game is really fun.
Attack of The Groupies. . . check it out. . .
RDog has reminded me to tell you, "Don't forget to press 'like'."

In Love With Lip Butter
Blouse: J Crew
Skirt: Talbots
Shoes: Naturalizer
I'm wearing one of my new Revlon Lip Butters again today. I'm obsessed with this lipstick and now have four shades. I love how it allows me to play with bright shades, like this pink I'm wearing and another orange-y color I have, without seeming too bright. The shades are definitely trendy but still school appropriate!

Is that a Cheetah Print?
Blouse: J Crew
Skirt: J Crew
Shoes: Cole Haan
I was getting after a few students (boys) for today for owing me late assignments. They got me off that track by saying, "I like your shoes. Is that a cheetah print?". That set off a conversation about leopard prints not cheetah being popular right now. Of course the girls in the class had to weigh in on that one.
A few minutes later and I realized we needed to get back to our history lesson. The late assignments were forgotten.
This semester's students are starting to know me too well. Talk about fashion to distract Miss from disciplining.
I'm on to them.

It's a Betty Draper Glare
Blouse: Forever 21
Skirt: Talbots
Shoes: Naturalizer
I am wicked tired today. Yes, those are snowflakes in the air. Both of those items factored in the massive bitch face I'm giving in the second picture.
Returning with a smile tomorrow. . .

You Know The Old Saying
Cardigan: J Crew
Shirt: Martin and Osa
Skirt: J Crew
Shoes: Naturalizer
You know how the old saying goes. You never know what you're missing until it comes back for 3 days and then disappears for two months.
Ok, maybe I'm the only one who says that.
The last of our three warm days are at their end and I am sad to see them go. Back to tights tomorrow.

Another Blogger Talking About the Weather
Sweater: J Crew
Top: J Crew
Skirt: J Crew
Shoes: Naturalizer
I'm haing a hard time deciding what to wear this week. There's a limited amount of warm days before we go back to a normal March. Right now it feels like the end of June so I want to wear all my pretty summer things while I can. I've decided to wear my J Crew patterned pencil skirts this week. They don't go well with tights and are not good summer vacation wear which means I only get a couple of wearings each year in June and September.
I was actually yelling at RDog to hurry while he was taking these pictures; it was too hot to have a sweater on. It's going to hurt this weekend when it snows again.

No Tights Tuesday
Cardigan: J Crew
Blouse: Ricki's
Skirt; J crew
Shoes: Naturalizer
The snow behind me makes it look cold. But, let me assure you it was not. We are getting June temperatures in March.
This warm weather reminds me how much I love summer. BBQ, Coronas, and sitting outside on our porch at the end of the day. Life is good in the summer.

Still Shining
Cardigan: Land's End Canvas
Tank: J Crew
Skirt: Cassis
Necklace: Reitman's
Shoes: Naturalizer
RDog overexposed me a little bit. It's taking us a bit to remember how to do this outdoor photo thing. But it is great to have the sun still beaming at 6 pm.
Take note of the snow behind me. It should be gone by week's end. I love spring!

World's Quickest Photos
Jacket: Tracy Reese (thrifted)
Dress: Hennes (thrifted)
Belt: Danier Leather
Bracelet: Forever 21
Shoes: Naturalizer
These were the quickest blog photos ever taken in the history of Wannabe Fashionista. Dang, that wind was cold.
Today's confession: I say nasty words to myself every time I read another blogger's post about the beginning of spring.
In other words, I've been digging the thrifted world lately. My March purchase roundup is going to be heavy on the second hand items, including these two pieces.
One of my favorite parts about thrifting is finding an item and thinking to yourself, "this looks/feels expensive" and then going home and goggling the name and finding out it IS expensive.
I was pretty proud of my 4 dollar jacket purchase when I went home and goggled Tracy Reese. I could tell that this jacket was something nicer than the thrift stores usual just by touching its soft silk lining.
I was also unfamiliar with the name Hennes. After some goggling, it looks like it was an earlier version of H&M. It's polyester, but it's nicer polyester. Is there such a thing?

Fast Fashion
Sweater: J Crew
Blouse: Reitman's
Skirt: J Crew thrifted off EBay
Boots: Naturalizer
I found this J Crew skirt for super cheap on EBay. I knew it wasn't new because I didn't recognize it (I'm so obsessed with J Crew, I can recoginize the season of their clothes).
The tag read that it was from 05. It doesn't feel like that was long ago but darn it if I can't tell by looking at the skirt that it is not a current style. The shape simply gives it away that it is from a few years ago.
Isn't silly how fast fashion changes?

Little Buns and Bloated Stomachs
Blouse: Tommy Hilfiger
Skirt: Talbots
Shoes: Naturalizer
I totally pigged out and didn't exercise last few on vacation - and it shows today. Two trips to McDonald's, two sausages, one day where I only ate bacon sandwiches and numerous pineapple coolers wrecked by healthy ways. My stomach is so bloated, I looked down and almost couldn't see my feet. Ugh, back on the wagon I go.
Today was a ponytail today because this morning I had crazy frizz, poodle hair. In the quest to find the easiest way to get waves and/or curls, I rolled my hair up in little buns, a la Bjork, last night when my hair was damp. This method is not to be repeated. It was bad! A pony was the only way to fix that mess.
In happier news, the time change means outdoor pictures. No more orange couch! Yes, I will take down my Christmas decorations soon.

Girls Night Out
Shirt: Costco
Skirt: Loft (thrifted)
Booties: Naturalizer
I wore this a couple of nights ago on a girls night out with a few teacher friends (the only ones who did not go south for March Break).
I think I have finally gotten the hang of getting curls to stay in my hair. The trick for me is to leave the rollers in for a very, very long time. I felt like an old house wife because I was cleaning my house that morning in my nightgown with rollers in my hair. But it was worth it because three days later and my curls are still here! Any other time I tried to curl my hair, I'm lucky to get waves a few hours later.

Casual Go-To Look
Shirt: Old Navy
Necklace: Joe Fresh
Jeans: Joe Fresh
Shoes: Naturalizer
I'm on March Break, hence the casual look. No southern trips for me, instead I spent my day running around town knocking some errands off my list.
I find casual looks are the hardest for me, probably because I don't have a casual go-to look. My dressy go-to look is definitely a pencil skirt, cami and cardigan. I need to find that equivalent for dress-down days.
What's your casual go-to look? Any tips?

March Madness
Sweater: Land's End Canvas
Flower: J Crew
Skirt: Talbots
Shoes: Naturalizer
There was a little bit of March madness going around school today. Kids were being disrespectful, getting in fights and getting expelled. Good thing March Break starts tomorrow! I need to escape from the craziness!
