Bit of Purple
Dress: Mexx
Necklace: Forever 21
Shoes: Naturalizer
Tights: Hue
This outfit is all about the tights. I wanted to wear these tights soon as warmer weather is coming (I hope) and my tights days are numbered (I hope). They are very bright in person so I needed a plain outfit. I couldn't resist the bit of purple at the necklace in the form of this crazy flower necklace that I never wear.

Badda Bing Badda Boom
Cardigan: J Crew
Belt: J Crew
Dress: Reitman's
Shoes: Naturalizer
Earrings: Joe Fresh
I'm pretty pleased with this outfit. It came together so easily. Almost every night, I plan my clothes for the next day and try them on to make sure they look good. Sometimes it can be quite the process as nothing feels right. Last night it was like badda bing badda boom.
I bought this dress about a year and a half ago for a fall wedding. I almost returned it because I couldn't find a sweater to match. I was looking for a sweater with the exact same shade of brown because that's all I thought this dress could be paired with. It really makes me notice how much my style sense has changed since then. I'm still getting there but there definitely is progress.

Mighty Tired
Jacket: Forever 21
Sweater: J Crew
Skirt: Cassis
Shoes: Naturalizer
Necklace: Forever 21
I'm so glad I planned this outfit last night as I was mighty tired this morning. Guess who stayed up until 1 am watching the Olympics and then got up at 6 am to make it to work? Silly me. But at least I got to see ice dance history in the making. Way to go Virtue and Moir!

Giveaway Winner
Spiffy is a fellow Canuck and creator of a great blog. Spiffy, I'll be emailing you to get your "deets".
Thank you to everyone who entered!
Let 'er Flow
Dress: Banana Republic found on EBay
Shoes: Naturalizer
Tights: Spanx
This dress is pretty loosey goosey. I normally would have belted it but decided to let 'er flow. I popped a big headband ion my hair and was set for the day. Despite wearing two slips (hey, two must be better one), I still encountered some minor static cling issues. These tights and silk do not mix well together.
Packing can be messy
5 sleeps until we leave for Mexico!
I've started packing in case the week gets away from me and I run out of time. It's been fun hauling out the summer clothes and playing with outfits that show skin!
I'm packing lots of blues, blacks, browns and pink. And an awesome fedora found at H&M last weekend. Warm sun, here I come!
P.S. Can you spot the Kitty?

The Story of the Splotchy Sweater
Sweater: Martin and Osa
Tank: Smart Set
Skirt: Old Navy
Belt: Danier Leather
Shoes: Naturalizer
Earrings: Suzy Shier
You may be wondering what exactly are those splotches on KDot's sweater. Well, when KDot came home from school today, she washed her hands as they get grimy during the day. One squirt of the hand soap bottle released soap all over her sweater, bathroom floor and shower curtain. Thus is the story of the splotchy sweater. The end.

Impossible Scarf
Cardigan: Martin and Osa
Blouse: Old Navy
Pants: Martin and Osa
Shoes: The Bay
Scarf: Old from a store in Montreal - I bought this about 5 years ago but this is the first time I have worn it. The rosette is sewn on and I could never find a way to tie the scarf without the flower looking funny/. Over at Academic Chic, the girls have been posting different ways to wear scarves. I saw the sneaky tie and thought it might just work with my impossible scarf. What do you think? Have I finally found a decent way to tie this scarf? Any other ideas as to what to do with it?
P.S. Don't forget to enter my giveaway.

Secret Teacher Trick
Blouse: Banana Republic
Skirt: Walmart - I bought this a loooong time ago in the great Walmart $1.00 sale of 2003. (I was a poor student and cheap clothes were a must). Surprisingly it has held up pretty well.
Belt: Joe Fresh
Earrings: Joe Fresh
Boots: Naturalizer
Tonight I'm doing the snow day dance. A snow storm is in the forecast for tonight. This teacher needs a snowday! Last year, we had eleven. There has only been one so far this year! I'm wearing my jammies inside out and backwards tonight (it's a secret teacher trick - doing so increases the chance of a storm). :-)

I also have to showcase RDog's Valentine's fashions. He wore:

Belt: Ben Sherman

Apron Love
Don't worry, I didn't break my online shopping ban. RDog agreed that I should be allowed to spend my Paypal credits earned from selling odds and ends on EBay on whatever I want. So I've hitting Etsy whenever I get the "I must buy something online" urge.
Bumming Around the House
Dress: Old Navy - I bought this a few weeks ago during Old Navy's epic 50% off clearance sale. It's a great weekend dress for just bumming around the house.
Belt: Forever 21
Boots: Naturalizer

Elizabethan
Cardigan: J Crew
Cami: J Crew
Skirt: The Bay
Shoes: Naturalizer
It was a coincidence that today, while I was wearing a very Elizabethan outfit, I happened to be teaching about the Elizabethan era. A fellow teacher popped his head in my room, took a look at my PowerPoint, and asked if I had planned my outfit on purpose. The kids picked right up on that.
One student said, "Did you buy your shirt in the 1500s?"
Another student: "She's not THAT old."
Thanks guys.

Happy Anniversary plus a day!
I completely forgot that yesterday was my blog's one year anniversary. Yay for Wannabe Fashionista! It still blows me away that actual people read and comment on my blog. Thank you!
It's so neat to check on my Google Analytics and see hits from around the world. Isn't the Interweb the neatest thing!
A giveaway in honor of my anniversary is coming soon once I get organized. Stay tuned . . .
Thrifting the night away
Blouse: Jones New York (thrifted)
Skirt: Thrifted
Shoes: Naturalizer
Necklace: Expressions from The Bay
I guess my pink jacket from yesterday is a bust. No comments = a bad outfit. You all are just so polite!
Looking at my thrifted treasures in this picture, gives me a hankering to do some digging. Off to Frenchies I go.

Pink Lady
Jacket: Thrifted - It's a silk blazer that has the tag "ICE". I was a bit hesitant of wearing this because it is quite different from my norm. I received many compliments on it today so that made me feel good!
Sweater shell: J Crew's jackie
Necklace: J Crew
Skirt: Cassis
Boots: Naturalizer

Out of my comfort zone
This post will contain no references to the extreme cold I am living in because RDog says my blog complains too much about the FREAKING COLD.
Blazer: Reitman's - This is what takes my outfit out of my comfort zone. I have never worn a blazer before. I found this one on sale at Reitman's for $14.99. I thought it would be a good starter blazer. If I don't end up wearing it, it's no big loss. I'm really digging it today though and hope it will open up the blazer world for me.
Sweater: Victoria's Secret
Skirt: H&M
Belt: Martin and Osa - This is actually a men's belt I scored on super sale last summer.
Boots: Naturalizer
Necklace: Martin and Osa

Hopping aboard the beige train
I feel like I'm running out of winter outfit ideas. This outfit came together because it is darn cold here this week and Thursdays are my outdoor duty day. This sweater is old, cashmere and rarely worn because I feel paranoid abut my bra showing through it. I'm around a lot of teenage boys; it's a valid concern. I found a great slimming nude tank top at Reitman's that does a great job of camouflaging both bra outlines and and bumps and lumps. Gray and black pants didn't look right with the sweater so I thought "Let's just hop aboard the beige train and do it all in beige." And so I did.
Sweater: Ralph Lauren
Pants: Sears - Wrinkly but I take my pictures at the end of my day. It happens.
Scarf: Thrifted
Shoes: Naturalizer

Like a Martin and Osa ad
Today I feel like a walking Martin and Osa advertisement.
Cardigan: Martin and Osa - I love the little bling around the neckline. This cardi is still available here.
Cami: Martin and Osa - This is still available and is currently marked down to $19.96. I found it ran a little big and would recommend sizing down. I didn't with this one partly because I feel guilty for returning so much to M&0 on their shipping tab!
Pants: You guessed it, Martin and Osa
Belt: Joe Fresh
Shoes: Naturalizer

Wishing for spring
Today I tried to combat the cold by doubling up my sweaters. It was still cold.
Cardigan: Martin and Osa
Sweater: Martin and Osa
Belt: Joe Fresh
Jeans: Reitman's - We had a special jeans day today because we missed our jeans day last Friday due to the snow storm. If you are tired of seeing these jeans on me, don't worry, I bought two new pairs tonight at Reitman's. I had a $25 off coupon so I snagged two new pairs of jeans, a tank and a blazer for $70. Yay!
Shoes: Naturalizer
I'm feeling uninspired lately and I notice that many bloggers are as well. I'm ready for spring to come. I want to start dressing for spring, not -30 weather!

COLD!
Today fashion took a second seat to staying warm. It is darn cold here. The temperature in my car at 8 am was -17. With the windchill, it felt like -27C. That is COLD! It is staying cold for the next week days so I don't think there will be many pretty outfits. All the ideas that come to me are for much warmer weather.
Sweater: Martin and Osa (my warmest sweater)
Tank: Old Navy garland tank
Pants: RW&Co. How is it that I bought these pants three weeks ago and today they were huuuuge on me? I hate when pants get stretched out. It made them hang lower and caused me to trip at school right in front of my principal. Luckily, a co-worker was nearby that I grabbed to stop a fall.
Boots: Naturalizer - These kept the lower part of my legs nice and toasty
Necklace: Smart Set - A plain outfit needs some bling.
