My fear of bright shoes

I have a fear of wearing bright shoes.

I love brightly colored shoes and buy them. But when it comes to wearing them, I just can't do it.

Take these red patent wedges from Old Navy for instance.

I bought them two years ago and absolutely love them. They are super comfy and wide enough for my square-shaped feet. But every time I go to put them on, I can't keep them on. Something always looks funny when I'm about to step out the door.

Help me wear these beauties. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what I should wear with these red shoes? Any tips for getting over my bright shoe phobia?

  1. I love those shoes. I have a pair of red patent peep toes from Clarks Artisans that I love - they are just a wee bit darker though. I am a big fan of bright shoes because I wear (and love) so many neutrals that they honestly spice up *any* outfit. In fact, another pair or 2 of bright shoes are close to the top of my spring shopping list.

Love with navy, navy and white esp., khaki, gray, black, white, yellow, other blues. Think dressing up jeans and a tee, khakis and a sweater. Stick with neutrals and similarly-toned brights. A pedicure would be a good way to get over the phobia - you'll want to show off your pretty toes!! And your Lea cardis - these shoes will work with a lot of them - navy, desert brown, snow, black, . They would also be fun with your new Burberry bag, I think (or are the reds wonky?) Your black pinstriped dress, too.

    HTH!

  2. With shoes like those, I'm imagining Audrey in black ankle-length pants or jeans. (As far as jeans, think of JCrew's toothpick jeans.) HTH!

  3. Try something simple like dark blue jeans (regular length, not cropped), a printed tee that has a little red in it or plain white tee & a dark cardigan. Just to get the ball rolling.

    You can do it! :-)

  4. Thank you for the great suggestions! Hopefully, it will be warm enough this weekend for me to give them a try.

  5. I love shoes in bright colors! Just keep everything else neutral and simple. Red shoes would be great with just about any shade of gray. Also dk jeans and a white tee with a cardigan in navy or ivory or camel. I could also see this with some british tan capris and a navy/ivory striped top. Good luck!

  8. Take it one step at a time. Try pairing them with wide trouser type jeans first, barely visible... then baby steps to cropped jeans :)

  9. Wear them with more neutral colors like black or denim so that they are the only bright accent. I think they'd look great with black pants.
